Hey Members!
Pretty chill week, eh? We saw some green in our semiconductor family and even with some of our digital payment stocks, like PYPL and SQ.
Here's a snapshot of how the overall markets did:
Trade of the Week:
If your covered calls expired worthless, you can sell another call against your shares at the same strike you chose last month. If you were assigned the 100 shares from your cash-secured put, you can now convert your trade into a covered call by selling at the same or 1-2 strikes above what you chose last month.
If you're a beginner, we recommend you starting off with selling cash-secured puts around 1-2 strikes OTM. This is typically a conservative starting point when starting the Wheel Strategy. However, if you're more experienced, bullish about the markets, and have been using the Wheel Strategy for some time, we recommend restarting by selling a covered call around 1-3 strikes OTM to not only receive the premium, but also make capital gains if you are called away at expiration.
As a friendly reminder, markets will be closed on Monday for President's Day. We can resume trading on Tuesday.

Earnings 📅
Disney | DIS
Whoa! I guess Disney still has some magic after all!
Here's a look at the 3-year chart of DIS:
If you weren't following Disney's journey for a while, Disney had some bumps this past year due to them closing their theme parks. The company reported that their revenue at Disney’s parks, experiences and products segment, fell 53% to $3.58 billion, as many of its theme parks were either closed or operating at reduced capacity and its cruise ships and guided tours were suspended.
However, Disney was still able to post a profit, even with their theme parks closed! Disney reported that they now have almost 95 million paid subscribers to its Disney+ streaming service as of the quarter ended Jan. 2, helping to offset losses in other segments affected by the pandemic. This is due to Disney’s free-trial period ending for some subscribers who are also Verizon customers. Disney CFO Christine McCarthy told analysts on the company’s earnings call that executives are “really happy with the conversion numbers that we’ve seen there going from the promotion to become paid subscribers.”
Since the markets are forward-looking, it looks like institutions are predicting that Disney's revenue is going to increase even more with parks expected to slowly open back up and with their rapid growing number of subscribers on Disney+. We believe that Disney+ is an amazing cash-generating income stream for Disney. Think about it; If Disney has around $95 million paid subscribers, what would happen if Disney decides to increase their subscription plan for just $1 or $2? Yeah, that's a lot of green coming in!
Remember, the thing with subscription services is that once customers find value in them, they are most likely going to continue with these services for a long time. Are people going to switch out of their phone or internet service provider? What about Spotify and Netflix? Or if someone has been using Microsoft PowerPoint for all of their team presentations, do you think people are going to switch platforms that fast? Also, if you think about how Disney releases their content, like with the popular Mandalorian or WandaVision, you see that they roll out an episode each week, rather than all at once. This keeps customers engaged and locked in even more, so they have to wait each week to see what happens to their favorite characters.
At Call to Leap, we believe that Disney DIS is a great long-term investment. If you like the company and believe in their fundamentals, you can consider investing in a couple of shares. Remember to see if the stock fits your risk-tolerance and to slowly scale in, rather than buying a whole bunch of shares all at once.

Well would you look at that! We are around 6 weeks into 2021. Let's be real with ourselves now; have you been keeping up to your goals? Go ahead and take out your journal or notepad in your phone, and review what you wrote down. Did you accomplish your goal of depositing $300 into you brokerage account each month? Did you spend 30 minutes to go onto your banking app to see what things you could cut out of your monthly bills? Did you finally take that first step to start that side-hustle you wanted?
Remember that when we invest, the goal is to let our money work for us. What does this mean? It means that if we can work a little harder and smarter now, we won't have to work as much or at all in a couple of years. Keep your goals in check each week or month. Heck, you can even ask your best friend, a family member, or your significant other to verbally ask you at the beginning of each month to make sure you're following the right path.
If you went off road with your 2021 goals, it's no worries at all! It's not the end of the world because you can still easily turn and adjust your steering wheel back on the main road. Be patient and always make sure that your eyes are focused on the end destination. 🙂
Enjoy your amazing three-day weekend! You deserve it!
