One of the most common reasons people say they can’t get started with investing is because they don’t have enough extra cash.

If this sounds like you, then you’re in luck. Because thanks to the internet, there is a growing trend in side hustles that you can use to reach your financial goals.

In this article, we’ll be talking about some of our favorite side hustle ideas out there that can make you real money.

9 on the side job ideas

1.) Tutoring

If you’ve been following us for a while now, you probably know that Steve’s financial freedom journey started with his tutoring business that he ran after school. Steve was a public school math teacher and decided to use his skills to make some extra cash on the side to fund his goals.

Tutoring as a side hustle can come in all shapes and sizes. The key is to find something that you excel at and love. Take that skill, and mentor people that need help.

For Steve, that meant tutoring kids in math after school.

For you, maybe that means becoming a guitar teacher. Or maybe a private soccer coach.

Odds are, you excel at something. And you can use your talents to create a side gig.

Tutoring as a side hustle can either include you starting your own private business where you mentor people. Or in some cases, you might be able to find a third party like a music school if you’re a guitar teacher. Or a business like Kumon if you want to tutor kids after school.

2.) Rent out your spare room

This is another tactic that Steve used to become financially free. And he still does it to this day!

Renting out a room in your home is a great way to earn extra income.

To give you some perspective, let’s say you rent out your spare room for $700 a month. For a year, that’s $8,400. That tenant is helping you pay your mortgage on your home and may also be bringing you in extra cash.

This strategy is pretty straightforward but can be complicated depending on your long-term goals. Finding someone who can be both a roommate and tenant can be difficult.

Dropshipping has become another popular side hustle that some people even turn into a full-time gig.

The concept of dropshipping is that you start a drop shipping business around a specific product or niche of your choice. And your delivery process is what’s called an “order fulfillment method.”

This means you don’t have to keep stock of the products that you are selling. So, you won’t have to buy a bulk of stock in order to sell your product. Instead, you’ll have a third-party supplier keep the inventory of all the products.

For example, if you started a dropshipping business and chose to sell women’s leather purses, you won’t have to buy or produce hundreds of bags to start a business. Instead, you would work with a third-party supplier who holds and produces the bags. And every time someone purchases, a bag from your website, you would notify your supplier to send their order to them.
